Ryu's Original Top 5 Series: soothing/healing songs from IU aka the love of my life!

*blows the trumpet*

i hereby announce the birth of Ryu's Original Top 5 Series! woohoo! *claps*

so, to commemorate my first top 5 series, i decided that i should write someone i like the most these past two years. without further ado, let me introduce you to my favourite artist, or should i say, musician, IU~ *claps*

(i like this photo so much, you don't understand)

(and yes, that's IU)

a brief introduction about this one of most amazing people in the whole wide world. she's from south korea. age 23. a talented female singer-songwriter who is huge, like HUGE in south korea. if you don't believe me, google it (i mean it. do it).

her popularity skyrocketed with her famous legendary bop song, Good Day. she kept shaking the music industry of kpop with You & I, which sold millions copies (i don't know why but i'm so proud when i typed those words lol). all of her albums are excellent, i'm not even exaggerating. she's so talented that she composes, writes, plays the guitar and sings her own songs! so in short, she's a gem and i'm glad i found her.

besides, being an extraordinary musician, IU does acting too and currently filming for the upcoming period drama that will be aired in late august but i'm not going talk about that. let's focus on her soothing and healing songs! :) Let's begin~

Top 5 Soothing/Healings Songs from IU (in no particular order)

1. Friday (ft. Jang Yijeong of History)

so first up is this song titled Friday, composed and written entirely by IU herself. this song is one of the two songs included in IU's repackaged album for Modern Times, Epilogue. IU's labelmate, Jang Yijeong from the boy group, History, was featured in this light and soothing song. in Friday, IU sings about planning to meet that someone special on Friday (thus the title!), how she couldn't wait for the day to arrive and spend time with the special person. when i heard the guitar in the beginning of the song, i knew it would be one of my fav songs from her. oh and i never skipped this song whenever it comes up on my playlist. NEVER. though i don't have anyone special (#foreveralonesquad), this song really lift my mood up. here, have a listen below :D

2. Peach

the next healing song is this song called Peach which is also one of IU's original compositions (i promise all of her original songs are 10 out of 10. what a talent) i need to tell y'all about the inspiration IU had while writing this song because why not lol well, IU has this bff named Sulli, who IU thinks is the prettiest girl in all  of Korea. so, she wrote Peach with Sulli in her mind. so, Peach is Sulli and Sulli is Peach. i'm not kidding.

nope, not kidding at all. (the girl in the right gif is Sulli! :D)
(gifs are not mine. credits to the owner >.<)

so in Peach, IU sings about how good looking her special someone is to her even just by standing there, how smitten she is every time she looks at the person and there is no enough word to describe how precious is that person to her :D her voice is just so magical in this song, i'm healed every time i listen to it.

3. The Shower

The Shower or in its korean title, Bluest Night, is one of the tracks in her latest mini album which was released last november, Chat-shire (which is most definitely a gem. i highly recommend the ep). well, in south korea, november is a cold month because the season is changing from autumn to winter but in this song, IU sings about her bluest night during summer. in the song, she was standing in the rain during the bluest night of her summer days, thinking and reminiscing about something/someone. it's one beautiful song and i always die at the harmonization.

4. Heart

now i did mention about IU does acting, right? so last year, IU acted in this drama called Producer, which she acted as the top female idol (which she is in real life lol)  who has cold attitude, Cindy (which is the total opposite of IU in real life). In the drama, Cindy fell in love with a rookie producer who didn't return her feeling. IU composed an OST (original composition again!) for the drama based on Cindy's point of view. in the song, IU sings about how she feels everything because of the person she likes - laughing, hurting, holding things to herself, she feels all that just because of one person. but even though the person doesn't like her back, she would keep the small light in her heart and let the light lives forever. such a soothing song, to be honest.

5. Untitled Song

the last song i'm going to include here is a very special song, well, at least to all of IU's fans out there. we all know that 1st April is April Fool's Day, right? so on 1st April, IU's official website changed the layout of the website as a prank and included something like 'a new song coming soon'. none of the fans bought the words because hello, it's April Fool's Day? BIGGEST PLOT TWIST HAPPENED BEFORE 1ST APRIL ENDED. IU really did released a new song on the website and what more amazing is that the song is free to download!!! HOW COOL AND AWESOME IS THAT?! while other idols pranked and did cosplay, IU gifted us with a beautiful self-composed song instead (i'm emo as i typed this) the song doesn't have title so us fans unofficially named it Untitled Song. IU sings about missing someone while she's faraway and hoping the person misses her too in this song. i personally think IU wrote this while thinking of all her fans, thanking every last of them from a distance. i believe this song is very special to all of IU's fans.

that's my top 5 soothing/healing songs from IU aka the love of my life (i need to emphasize this every time. period). that's a wrap! *claps* until next post. bye~ :D

p/s: this is such hard post to write, it felt like forever to write. i don't even know why i start this original top 5 series. *cries*
