i've been drafting a lot these past two days on what to blog about and i thought to myself, 'hey, don't i really like reading those do's and don'ts articles? maybe i can write my own do's and don'ts!' so, this is how this new original feature is born! i have so many original features i wanted to do in my head but let's take one step at a time.
disclaimer:
the following do's and don'ts are purely based on my perspective looking at things. there would be no forcing to accept the opinions.
The Do's & Don'ts: Using the Internet
DO: Make friends
with the internet, we can connect literally with everyone around the world, despite of being in different countries, different time zones. so, go ahead! connect and make new friends online :) there are days that we don't feel like talking to our family members and real life friends or maybe they're too busy, you don't want to burden them with your troubles. but still we want to talk about the problems in our life to someone who won't judge us. those internet friends you know from earlier might just be the right person for you to share your problems. i've made many good friends on the internet who are kindhearted and supportive whenever i rant on my social media account. therefore, if someone told me that internet friends aren't real, i'm just going to ignore them.
DON'T: Be a cyber bully
the internet is so powerful, we can do so many thing with it. but everything has its pros and cons. some people misuse the power of the internet and turn it into a weapon to hurt others. this is what we call 'cyberbullying'. Sending hate messages, death threats, blackmailing - these are the prominent examples of cyberbullying, which i personally think, shouldn't exist at all. i've seen number of people who got really hurt from these cyberbullying acts, some of them had fallen into depression, became suicidal, and most unfortunate, even committed suicide. it breaks my heart to see such tragic endings. truly, words can build or destroy someone. remember that.
DO: Be kind and open-minded
it costs nothing to be a kind person, so be a kind internet user! :) greet people, compliment them, crack jokes, show concerns and many more. make someone smile behind the screen. we don't know what kind of things people have to go through in their daily life, your kind words might just make someone's day! i'm not sure about others but i sincerely feel happy when i make people smile. so, be kind on the internet. Also, be open-minded. you'll see a lot of opinions on the internet and you might come across different opinions from yours. keep your cool, don't go berserk and start arguing with people. no one is entitled to entirely accept one's opinions. if you get offended by the opinions or statements, just quickly scroll it down. arguing online doesn't worth your energy. seriously.
DON'T: Be a wet blanket aka killjoy all the time
have you ever came across posts on a social media that share happy moment of that original poster and some people come in and leave comments like 'i've been there before. it's not even that good', 'you're just showing off', 'no one ask you for this post', 'your post is really annoying please stop' etc...? DON'T be this kind of person. DON'T be a salty person. DON'T be a killjoy all the time. if you don't like seeing some of the posts, just ignore it and scroll pass it real fast. let people share their happy moments. let people be happy for once. scratch that. let people be happy all the time. (i always like people's posts though i don't leave comments on them hehe)
so, there you have it. my do's and don'ts of using the internet! and again, i have to remind that this is purely my two cents. take it with a pinch of salt.
p/s: i think i'm going to be a diligent blogger from now on lol ;u;
