i've drafted most of the things i want to write on my blog in a notebook (handwritten! can you believe it? lol) so that i won't forget any of them. as i read the drafts, i was like wow i really like this top 5 series feature because i have elaborated things i want to share. i guess, it's a good thing? i hope so.
this time i would like to share about my top 5 memorable quotes/sayings i've came across either in books or on the internet. i believe everyone has their own favourite quotes/sayings that they hold onto dearly because the words somehow comfort and/or motivate them. so, i like to share mine.
as i would type my own words and opinions on the quotes/sayings, it would be kind of lengthy for every point; i decided to split it into 5 parts. one quote/saying for every part. therefore, this is part 1 of my top 5 memorable quotes/sayings. enjoy~
i remember that i came across this quote/saying on 24th may 2016 on the web, and i can't help but to thinking to myself 'wow, this is so powerful and important' over and over again. i suppose that everyone knows what crayons are. we also know that given the properties of a crayon, it will certainly break when we apply too much pressure on it while colouring. it's the same with our heart. when the heart gets too much pressure, too much stress, too much pain, it breaks. we might feel so broken inside, we don't know if we can ever get over it or what to do with the pieces of our heart. now let's go back to the crayon. it is broken now, yes, but do we immediately pick it up and throw it in a rubbish bin? NO. we still keep it because it doesn't lose its colour despite being broken, and we can still colour with it. it still can colour beautiful pictures/paintings. if we can pick up the broken crayon and continue to colour with it, i don't see why we can't pick up the pieces of our heart, stand up and start to live beautifully again.
have you ever heard of a japanese art called kintsukuroi ? i stumbled on this term on the web as well and i am very moved by it's meaning.
'fixing broken pottery with gold/silver lacquer and understand that breakage and repair is a part of the history of the object, making it more beautiful with its imperfection'
i do think that our mended heart is similar to that of a broken pottery mended by the potter with gold or silver. God will always mend our broken heart with His love and care, it turns into an imperfect yet beautiful heart. with it, we can start fresh, love and live courageously again.
for this memorable quote, i would like to thank the broken crayons that inspired people lol xD it is only a 4-word quote/saying but it has left deep impression on me. i would like to say to those people who are broken inside to not feel ashamed of their broken self. you are a broken crayon, yes, but broken crayon still colour the same.
